Conrad Shue Financial Assistance

On February 17, 2022, Conrad Shue was involved in a terrible car accident while traveling home from his job in Virginia. Only 30 minutes from home he came upon an ice storm and his car went off the road and struck a tree. The tree penetrated through the front end and pinned Conrad into the seat, wrapping his legs around the tree. Luckily, a tow truck driver passing by saw his tail lights & was essentially responsible for saving his life that night.

 

He was taken to Akron City Hospital where they had no choice but to amputate his left leg below the knee. Rods and pins have been placed in both femurs & the right tibia in an attempt to save his other leg. His ankle is being held together by a plate & 4 screws. His right elbow has been shattered & his right ulna is being held together by a plate & 9 screws. He suffered a collapsed lung, blood clots in both lungs & right shoulder, neck fractures, a broken rib, pneumonia, detached lower lip, brain bleed & traumatic brain injury

 

Conrad received sutures in a 6 inch laceration across his forehead as well as other smaller ones in various areas. He’s also had blood transfusions totaling over 16 pints of blood. He is expected to be in the hospital through April followed by a rehab facility through August. He will also have to attend brain therapy for a year.

 

It’s going to be an extremely long, painful & expensive recovery process. We expect the total of all of his medical bills, rehab, therapy and prosthetics to be well over a million dollars. We expect these costs to exceed his health insurance benefits.

 

Conrad is only 30 years old & had a bright future ahead of him. He is loved by literally everyone that knows him. He loved his job working on the railroad for CSX but now his life & dreams will have to be dramatically altered. His family and girlfriend have been by his side daily since the accident and will be with him throughout his recovery.

 

As a long time friend of the Shue family I set up the Conrad J Shue Trust for all donated funds. Conrad's Father, Brother and myself (Bob Senkar) are trustees of this trust. All funds will be used to help him pay all of the bills he will accrue during the healing & rehab process that will not be covered by insurance. If you can’t donate, please keep him in your prayers!
