Connies Cancer, Stage 3 Breast Cancer

This is my amazing, beautiful and strong mom, Connie, who recently was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. After having a double mastectomy a few weeks ago, we found out that the cancer had spread. This has been devastating news to my mom and our family. Just before mom’s surgery she took leave from work to focus on her recovery so she could return to work stronger. She now must do chemotherapy once a week, and radiation 5 days a week. Each visit is a 45-minute drive one way. My mom is my best friend, my confidant and roommate. Having her live with my children and I for the last few years has brought us closer together as a family and watching her go through this difficult time is even more than unbearable. We are trying to raise funds to help mom with gas to her treatments, medications, and wigs since she is very self-conscience about losing her hair. (Her hair is to her backside). Human hair wigs are incredibly costly, $3000.00 for just one wig. I am hoping to be able to take a good portion of the financial burden off my mom during this incredibly difficult time for her, as well as help ease some of the emotional turmoil that she is experiencing, by asking for help for her financially. She applied for paid medical leave but is only receiving 66% of what her pay was, which makes her finances incredibly tough on her. She has insurance but as you all know there is also still co pays for everything as well. I want to be able to help her myself, but as a single mom my finances were already stretched, and with her diagnoses I’m missing work to take her to appointments.
