Connie Valenzuela Memorial and Help Fund

Dearest Connie, God was ready to give you your wings.

It is with great sadness that I share the passing of a beloved wife, mother, and friend, Connie Valenzuela (77). Connie fought a courageous battle over the past 3 months of stage 4 pancreatic cancer.  She was diagnosed just a few weeks before her passing on the morning of February 16, 2021.

Just days before her passing, Connie was able to Zoom with her family and friends from her room at Presbyterian Inter-community Hospital.  Shortly after, she was transferred to So Cal Post Acute Care and remained there for 5 days before she passed on February 16th. On the day of her passing, her husband Ross had an appointment to visit with her. Ross was only minutes away from his 11:00am visiting appointment when Connie’s heart stopped beating.

Connie touched so many lives with her kind and caring spirit. She found great pleasure in praying and ministering to the lost and leading them to salvation. Alongside her husband Ross Valenzuela, they both participated and organized Bible studies with members of “Faith of Our Fathers Church (Torrance, Ca), The Lords Church (Bellflower, Ca) and Angel City Church (Bellflower, Ca.).

Connie and Ross had been married for 39 years. They met in Long Beach, California on February 1, 1980. Though they never had children of their own, Connie had 2 sons and a daughter from a previous marriage. They were married in 1981 at Faith of Our Fathers Church in Torrance by Pastor Breck Stevens and started their ministry with the Lord. Connie and Ross opened their home for those in need, offering shelter, warm meals, ministering the gospel to prison inmates at the LA County jail, and feeding the homeless. Together, they devoted their lives to ministering and serving those in need of help.

Over five years ago, Ross was diagnosed with coronary artery disease and became disabled.  Despite his health issues, Ross continued to care for Connie and attend to her needs. As a community member of their family, friends, brothers and sisters of the Lord, we want to ease any financial stress for Ross and support him during this loss.

In addition to the emotional pain and stress, the loss of Connie adds to Ross’ financial burdens. As a result of Ross’ wife passing, their combined monthly social security income has been drastically reduced by half. Ross spent the last 3 years of his life caring for Connie and the illness’s she suffered. Now that she is gone, he is left to pick up the pieces of his life and try to move forward. I am asking for the support and help that would allow Ross the ability to move forward in his life and seek a more permanent affordable housing and reliable transportation.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help support Ross through his current and future financial costs. During a time of loss, the extended kindnesses and support of others sheds hope and comfort to the one grieving the passing of someone they loved so dearly. Connie was Ross' heart and best friend and his grief feels insurmountable. We are thankful for any support you are able to provide for Ross Valenzuela. Thank you for the kind words and prayers those who have shared their condolences during this tragedy and continue sending your love. It is appreciated beyond measure.

Any level of donation is truly appreciated.
