Thank you to all of our family and friends for your past support and continued support through this tough journey. A lot has happened since Dean was diagnosed with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) in November of 2016 including the arrival of our granddaughter Emma Jean on August 5, 2017!!!
In 2018, we are looking to raise $5,500 to help support Dean’s comprehensive stem-cell treatment in Seattle. This procedure is full-scale which is necessary to combat Dean’s ALS. It uses Dean’s own stem cells to help him continue to make pulmonary progress and continue to sustain his lung capacity.
His pulmonologist doctor in Great Falls has been quite impressed with the past stem-cell results and these past treatments were not as full blown as this procedure is. The doctor recommended Dean see Dr. Tami in Seattle to receive this cutting-edge comprehensive stem-cell treatment. Dr. Tami is a renowned and widely published doctor on using stem-cells to treat ALS. This comprehensive procedure will help Dean battle the degenerative changes he has experienced over the past year and half and help him receive longer lasting pulmonary benefits. We are also extremely fortunate that Dr. Tami is waiving her physician costs and only charging us for the procedure expenses. This is a tremendous opportunity and we are looking forward to the long-term and short-term benefits this treatment will offer Dean.
On April 10th, Dean will receive this 3-hour comprehensive stem-cell treatment which includes taking his own fat stem cells and his own banked stem cells from last June and putting those 10 million stem cells to work in his own body to battle ALS. Some of the stem cells will be injected into his spinal cord and the rest will be administered intravenously throughout the rest of his body. He will need to remain in Seattle for 5 days for observation.
The funds raised will go towards the procedures and any travel-related expenses we incur during our 5-day trip to Seattle (e.g., airfare, hotel, food, etc.).
