Community TAB WIRES Fundraiser
Tax deductible
This campaign has now ended.
This weekend, Racing and Wagering WA’s Community TAB will be donating $500 every time a horse or greyhound wearing the number one rug wins at a Western Australian city class race meeting, to assist with the hundreds of millions of animals impacted by the eastern states bushfires.
All proceeds received from the fundraising will go to the NSW Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service (WIRES), Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation. During December alone, WIRES received over 20,000 emergency calls with volunteers attending over 3,300 rescues as a result of the bushfires.
The University of Sydney estimates that 480 million animals have been affected since bushfires in NSW started in September 2019, with certain species of animals at risk of extinction.
Fundraising will take place during the following race meetings across the weekend:
- Gloucester Park – Friday 10 January 2020
- Pinjarra Park – Saturday 11 January 2020 (Pinjarra will be hosting Saturday’s metropolitan race meeting)
- Greyhounds WA Cannington – Saturday 11 January 2020
We encourage others to take part in this cause or any other initiative that is providing much needed assistance to those who need it most.
