Community Support for the Petershack Family

**There will be a viewing on Wednesday, 8/13/2025 4:00-8:00 at Goble Funeral Home, located at 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871. Funeral services will commence at Prince of Peace Church at 1030AM, located at 3320 NJ-94, Hamburg, NJ 07419 on Thursday 8/14/2025.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Petershack, beloved father and husband, coach, retired hero police officer, friend, and avid outdoorsman. Coach Mike passed away on August 7, 2025. A perfectionist in everything he did, Mike served with honor and dedication as a police officer, earning the respect of his colleagues and the community. After retiring, he devoted countless hours to volunteering, including serving on the Sparta Youth Softball Board, where his commitment to both hockey and softball, and its players will leave a lasting impact.

Coach Mike was passionate and was always in the pursuit of excellence. A true lover of the outdoors, he found peace in hunting and fishing. Known for his impatience, Mike’s perfectionism was often paired with an unstoppable drive to get things done his way. He once raked the entire field himself because he couldn’t wait for the town to use the tractor-nothing ever stood in the way of what he believed needed to be done. He was known for his passionate opinions on the things he loved (and disliked—particularly Ryobi tools). His sense of dry humor and strong convictions will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

If you ever sat in or near the dugouts at Ungerman, you’d know Mike was the one who insisted on blue metal roofs. And if a ball ever hits that roof and you jump, remember to smile and think of his spirit and love for the game that will live on in those moments.

Mike, we know you're chasing that buck of a lifetime, catching that elusive brown trout, or coaching from the sidelines in heaven. Your legacy of service, love, and integrity will live on through your wife Sharon, and your children Ella and Wes, who will forever carry your spirit.

Our hearts are with Sharon, Ella, Wes and the entire Petershack family during this difficult time. If you are able, we kindly ask to donate what you can to the Petershack family.
