Community Outreach through Christ and Coffee

I am interning at a small church in Misawa, Japan. The pastor typically pays for necessities out of his pocket. He does not receive a salary from the church; rather, he works a regular 9-to-5, while supporting the church and its members. During one of our meetings, I asked him about his passion. He said he wants to really reach the local community, which includes Japanese nationals, a sizeable Filipino population, and Americans associated with the local Air Force Base. As we talked, I learned that he wants to open a free coffee shop for the community as a way to share the Gospel and help support the community.
This is his dream, but with work and his church responsibilities, he cannot get started until after retirement, which will be when he sees a reduction in income. I am starting this campaign to help start this community outreach before his retirement in three years.
The money I raise will go toward remodeling the space (picture attached), purchasing enough consumables to get us started, and producing signage in multiple languages.
The local area sees many suicides each year, for both the Japanese population and the young US military population. Add to that the struggling marriages and depressing loneliness of the winter months, and the need increases exponentially. Our goal is to provide a safe place for the community to meet, think, and receive support.
