Community Mosaic for West St. Paul's Art Park

Donation protected
UPDATE: As of September 20, 2020, the goal has been met. Thank You to all who donated and shared. Any funds raised here going forward will support future public art projects around the city.

West St. Paul has a noticeable lack of public art, especially compared to the surrounding Twin Cities community. With all the benefits of public art, we want to see more art in West St. Paul. We have an opportunity to bring public art to West St. Paul, but we need your help.

West St. Paul’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee has created an Art Park Subcommittee to develop the Art Park at the corner of Oakdale and Butler. We’ve received a $10,000 grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council to create a mosaic column in the art park. St. Paul artist Lori Greene will lead us in a series of community events to help create this mosaic column (it will look similar to the one pictured).

Involving the community is a big part of the project. Local residents can have an active part in designing and actually creating the mosaic column. We’ll have safe, socially distanced events around West St. Paul in September where people can participate.

But we need your help to make this project happen. Our $10,000 grant requires $2,500 in matching funds. We’ve already raised $500 and we have a donor willing to match $1,000—so we only need $1,000. We hope you’ll consider making a donation toward that $1,000 goal. Any amount will help.

We want to see more public art in West St. Paul, and we hope you’ll join us in making that happen.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
