What I'm doing
I've recently been accepted to attend the GREEN program (https://thegreenprogram.com/) this Summer. As part of the 1% of successful applicants worldwide, I'll be travelling to Hawaii to work on Sustainable Community Food Systems, Energy and the World Youth Congress. This is an opportunity to work with like-minded young leaders from all over the world on a project that targets the 17 sustainable development goals set out by the United Nations. The goals that this project works towards are:
Goal 2: Zero Hunger
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being
Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
Goal 13: Climate Action
This is an opportunity to transform the lives of people less fortunate than ourselves, by enabling me to do good work to help them.
Why I'm fundraising?
The cost of the program is $4500 (approx. £3500), including everything but flights and successful applicants must raise this money themselves. Whilst I can pay the £800 flights; I'm reaching out to friends, family, professionals, institutes and anyone with an interest, to help me fund the remainder of the program.
So far I've managed to secure £600 of funding from a sponsor and I'm continuing to pursue other potential sponsors.
What can you do?
I'm asking whether you could donate to help me reach my target, but also to spread my story to people you know. If 1000 people were to donte to me just the price of a morning coffee, then I'd reach my target in no time.
What to look out for
I'll be on social media prior to my departure as well as during and after. I'm planning a few fundraising events, so keep your eyes pealed as links will follow soon!
