Colosimo Sister's Recovery

On their way to drop off at Madison Simis and Sunnyslope High School this morning, a very close friend with her two daughters in her car, were involved in a serious car accident at the intersection of Central & Northern. They were only 20 seconds away from their home when this happened. While mom didn't sustain any serious injuries, both of her daughters were immediately transported to the trauma center at PCH as they equally sustained life-threatening injuries.

The youngest daughter, Gia age nine, sustained serious head/brain injuries and they are awaiting further tests over the next several days to determine the severity and long-term impact. She arrived at the ER suffering from seizures and unconsciousness caused by the head/brain injury but was removed from her breathing tube this afternoon and slowly regaining consciousness. Gia is an amazing athlete and had just started her softball season at RAMMS as one of the all-star players,  is also an avid dancer at Encore Dance and loves her friends at Simis Elementary where she attends 4th grade. Her twinkley eyes and mischievous smile will brighten anyones day!

The oldest daughter,  Ari age 16, sustained serious injuries to her lower spine as her lower vertebrae was severed in two and was immediately rushed into a two hour surgery to fuse her broken spine together.  These injuries are incredibly severe and could result in permanent paralysis; HOWEVER, the doctors still believe there is a chance that her body will miraculously heal as she is young and athletic (we are all praying and believe in her strength!). Ari is a Junior at Sunnyslope, Junior Class President, a varsity cheerleader, junior varsity soccer player, an amazing dancer at Encore Dance, recently discovered a love for track and planned on running home from school starting next week, and highly involved student with perfect grades that has huge ambitions for college and beyond.

Their life has been forever altered by this accident and they are going to be in need of financial and emotional support for several years as they work to bring both of their girls to a full recovery. From medical bills, therapy, medical devises, emotional trauma support and possible alterations to the basic ways they live their life....they need your help!

Please consider donating to help this family and if you are unable to, keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

We will keep you all posted on their progress as we learn more!
