February 25 through March 1st is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week!
Eating Disorders are a Psychological illness that can cause several medical complications such as cardiac arrhythmia, brain damage, osteoporosis and infertility.
They have the highest mortality rate out of all mental illnesses.
Around 30 MILLION Americans suffer from an eating disorder, but sadly many never get the help they need.
Eating Disorders are something that is very close to my heart. My beautiful, strong, and amazing younger sister has been working through the struggles of an Eating Disorder for over 10 years. I have watched her struggle throughout our childhood with her eating disorder. But I have also watched her overcome her it in countless ways.
She truly inspires me with her strength and determination. But she isn't alone. So many men, women, young adults, AND children are still going through this difficult journey.
One thing that helped my sister was Arts & Crafts. So, this month to encourage those who are still struggling in treatment centers I would like to raise money to purchase these AMAZING coloring books from Usborne Books & More! Usborne Books & More offers a 50% matching grant program called, Literacy for a Lifetime. This program is a great way to help raise the money needed for our cause.
With the funds we receive we will deliver Coloring packets (UBAM coloring book, colored pencils and a pencil sharpener) to as many patients still in treatment centers as possible. Just a small gesture to brighten up someone's day and show that they are loved!
