Assistance Dog in need of Surgery

My name is Robin and I am stricken with multiple sclerosis. I have an assistance dog named Colonel who will be 11 years old on Valentine's Day. Colonel and I have been a 'team' since he was 18 months old. He performs such tasks as turning lights on and off; opening and closing adapted doors; he pushes the elevator "call button"; fetches everything I drop (and I drop a lot of things!) braces for me if I fall and need help getting up; and much more. Colonel compensates for what the left side of my body won't do. Most of all, he's my faithful companion. He is by my side 24/7.


On Christmas day Colonel was enjoying playing in the snow with his two best friends, Maddy & Molly. While romping in the snow he somehow lost his footing and twisted his leg which resulted in a trip to the Emergency Veterinaran. The result: a complete tear of the ACL on his left hind leg which requires surgery to the tune of approximately $5,000. Surgery will make him "whole" again and be able to do the tasks he was trained to do for me.  At this time, his surgery is scheduled for January 17, 2018.

This isn't Colonel's first go-round with surgery.  Four years ago, Colonel was having difficulty with his stomach which required emergency surgery to save his life. He had a bleeding ulcer the size of an egg in his stomach which thankfully was not cancerous. The surgeon had no idea what caused it. This surgery cost $5,000 and I'm still trying to pay it off.


I am on a very limited income (SSDI) and I just cannot afford another $5,000 vet bill. Upon the urging of several people I created this page so they and others could donate to Colonel's surgery. The surgery will enable Colonel to continue assisting me. He is still young and has so much more to give.  Any size donation would be greatly appreciated.
