College for Carter

Our friend and community leader, Lhorna Murray, is a tireless advocate for the arts, a community organizer, and a leader in Magnuson Park. During the campaign for the Seattle City Council District 4 position, she organized a voter registration drive for her community, invited candidates to the park to meet her neighbors, and went on to become a Legislative Aide in Councilmember Alex Pedersen’s office in November.

On May 20, Pedersen fired Lhorna, and another staffer quit in protest and solidarity a few days later.

While Lhorna figures out what is next for her, her son, Carter, who volunteered on Pedersen’s campaign, is now finding his future plans in jeopardy. Carter is set to start college in the fall, so let’s reduce the financial barrier for him so he can go to college as planned, continue his education, and become part of the lasting change he thought he was voting for last November.
