Agua Chiquita’s High School Construction Project $46,500 needed for completion! 100% of Funds go directly towards construction materials...
Construction is underway and must be completed before Christmas!
Agua Chiquita is a remote rural community located 28 kilometers from Tela, Atlántida, Honduras and neighboring the exuberant Janet Kawas National Park. Historically, this community has had difficulties providing education for their children beyond 6th grade. In 2002, their dream to educate their children in their own community became a reality when the “Centro Educativo Dionisio de Herrera”, 7th -12th grade, opened its door and started to operate in the same building as the elementary school but in opposing time; in the afternoon and serving 5 neighboring communities. Even with the hospitality of the elementary school, the need for its own building could not be mitigated. Currently, they still have a group of students whose classroom is a structure with only a roof and the constant sounds and distractions of the center of the community’s actions, and even the rain makes it very difficult to provide students with an environment conducive to learning.
Our quest is to combine our efforts with Agua Chiquita community to provide a viable education for all the children of the area. So far, the community has; the land, completed the landscaping for the building location, the constructions plans and list of materials, the donation of Fast Blocks (polystyrene) and volunteers for the labor.
With the power of any size donation, approximately 200 families in 5 different rural and remote villages in Honduras can enjoy the privilege to educate their children in their own neighborhood, to provide the youth with job training programs and local employment readiness.
“Honduran children are the future of Honduras, let’s give them a reason to stay!”
Campaign Deadline: November 15, 2019 -- Help us reach our goal in time!
