THE KIDS NEED YOUR HELP!

Coledale Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) is a registered non-for-profit charity. It helps to fund several initiatives to help the students and teachers at Coledale Public School on the South Coast of NSW.

Coledale is a small school and we need your help to raise funds to continue funding for a Learning Support Teacher, to continue our Kitchen Garden Program and to fund technology upgrades.

Each year Coledale P&C help fund a Learning Support Teacher, the Kitchen Garden Program and updates for the technology the students use at school (including I-Pads and computers). Due to restrictions this year a lot of our usual fundraising events have had to be cancelled so we do not have enough funds to keep all those programs going for next year.

To fund these programs the P&C spent $28,500 last year. We are hoping to raise as much as possible to help towards continuing this funding for the kids. 100% of all donations will be put into the Kitchen Garden Program, Technology upgrades and the Learning Support Teacher for the students. Any small amount you can afford is greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping the kids learn to their full potential and give them the best chance of a better education.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause. It means a lot to the kids. Below is a little information on the programs.

Coledale Public School have several high needs students. The Learning Support Teacher provides help and support for these kids who need extra attention and help with learning. They help co-ordinate and provide personalised learning plans to suit the needs of students and work within the classrooms with teachers. They help children who need extra support to be able to engage in classroom activities and participate in group and individual work so they can learn to function in a school environment. It would be very detrimental to the education of these students who have come to engage  if they were to lose this extra support.

The Kitchen Garden Program is a program where students spend lessons in the outdoor garden learning to plant and harvest crops such as seasonal fruit and vegetables. They spend time learning about the seasons, plant and insects, the life cycles of insects and the environment. The children thrive in this learning environment and learn valuable life skills. After harvesting the food they then learn to cook healthy meals in the school’s  kitchen. This program is incredibly important to the students and teachers at Coledale Public School and without funding will not be able to continue.

With the pace of technological developments Coledale Public School does not have the capacity to upgrade its technology as frequently as is required. In order to alleviate this and ensure the students have the technology they need to learn using modern teaching methods the P&C help with providing new I -pads for classroom learning where students can use educational programs to learn. 

The Learning Support Teacher, technology upgrades and Kitchen Garden Program help all of our students, especially the kids who need extra learning support to deal with the barriers they are faced with in education and use the support in place to develop coping skills, feel safe in the school environment, develop social skills and meet their individual learning needs using the best possible technology and teaching methods.
