Cody Winters's Winter

Hi, I am Cody Winters and I am raising funds for my 2021/2022 Snowboard Season.

 

This season is an Olympic year!! The Olympics will happen in Beijing, China in the beginning of February, and I have a good shot at making the team! There are four World Cup races at the beginning of this season that will determine who will be selected to the team. If I can have good finishes at these races I will be selected to represent the United States of America in the Olympic Winter Games, the biggest goal of my life, and I need your help to get there.

 

As some of you may know I started my own window cleaning business, Winters Window Washing. I work as much as I can and save as much money as possible in the summers to fund my snowboard season. I am extremely proud of my company's growth over the past 3 years. But it is still not enough. With no help from the US national team and sponsors only helping me with equipment, the prices to travel, train, and race on the World Cup Circuit is astronomical, as the races are primarily in Europe and Asia.

Here is a price break down:

 

$15,000 Coaching

$6,000 Lodging for training & Races

$1,500 Lift Tickets

$8,000 Equipment: Boots, Boards, Bindings, Clothing, Wax. ECT

$5,200 Travel to races via Car, Train, or Plane.

I have saved $15,000 this summer with my business, so I need $20,000 to kick off my 2021-22 season.

 

The people I am competing against are all massively funded by their national teams meaning they have access to all the best resources such as doctors, physical therapists, board techs, multiple coaches, national team organizers, the best lodging and travel, top of the line equipment and so on and so forth. I don't need all of the sparkling bells and whistles that some athletes have access to; in fact, I like coming in as the underdog or dark horse. But some things are necessary. I believe my financial situation makes me work harder and be more dedicated than others. Also more grateful for what I do have. But the money I have saved is just not enough.

 

I can't tell you how badly I wish that I could fund myself entirely and not have to ask the community for help. Talking about myself is not one of my strong suits but as I progress in the life of being a professional athlete I realize it is key. I am working really hard at becoming better at it and being more comfortable asking for financial help. I truly appreciate all the kind and generous people that have helped me already and I am so glad I live in a world where people are so selfless and generous.

 

Last season was my first year traveling on the full World Cup

tour. I had some amazing finishes and grew a lot as an athlete. Here are some of my successes:

Second at Junior World Championships

First place at a Europa Cup

15th place at World Championships

Second place at US Snowboardcross National Championships

I am currently the top ranked American.

 

My goals for this season are to compete in the Olympic Games, have four top 16 finishes in World Cups, finish the season ranked in the top 16 on the World Cup standings, grow my fan base to have more sponsors and supporters, make time to free ride and explore new places, and Have Fun!
