Coast Car Co-op is a not-for-profit car-sharing co-operative on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. We serve over 100 members, as well as 100+ casual and roaming users, and have reciprocal roaming agreements with all other vehicle co-ops in BC.
Coast Car Co-op is an integral part of the transportation infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast. We provide affordable, convenient transportation for our members, and benefit the community and the planet by reducing the number of vehicles on the road, and our collective carbon footprint.
Managed by a volunteer Board and just one part-time staff member, we have managed to grow our fleet to five cars, and establish a solid monthly revenue base. However, we must still clear a significant hurdle to achieve financial sustainability: our debt. We incurred debt to finance the fleet and weather our first few years, and that debt presents ongoing cash flow pressure that threatens our viability.
This GoFundMe campaign is part of a broader fund-raising plan to address that, involving all of our members and community partners. Our goal is to retire our debt in 2018 to ensure a healthy and thriving community service.
