Coalescence 3rd Year Anniversary Fundraiser

Coalescence: A Visual and Performing Arts Showing is the brainchild of Anastasia Johnson, Molly Kate Dalton, and Kaitlin Pennington. As emerging dance artists in the Washington, DC area, we noticed some gaps needed filling in the art world:

1) Developing artists across disciplines required a place to connect.

2) They needed a space to deepen their craft or experiment with something entirely new.

3) They needed the opportunity to show these explorations to an audience and receive feedback.

4) Young artists required access to more professional and artistic mentorship.

Thus, Coalescence was born! The first showing was in November 2019, with around 60 people in attendance. With the Covid-19 pandemic causing much of the art world to turn digital, Coalescence followed suit and has hosted three showings online since 2020, averaging around 100 viewers each. This November, we are excited to announce that we are returning to an in-person event! Your donation will help us pay for the support we need to make this showing happen, such as a stage manager, the event space, and other technical elements.

Your donation will also invest in the future of Coalescence. Our vision is to continue growing Coalescence beyond showings into an established group that holds multiple events and workshops each year, finds new ways to engage and connect a diverse artistic community, and nurtures young, emerging creative voices. We are already making strides in this area. This past July, Coalescence hosted its first PREP Arts program, which provided three young artists with resources and mentorship as they establish their artistic careers post undergrad.

We believe that art can change lives and is an amplifier allowing voices to be heard. Therefore, we believe that art is more important than ever. Your support means that developing artists can continue to craft their voices, adding beauty and diversity to the world. It also means communities will be ushered into meaningful conversations that are inevitable when art is elevated.
