Our intent is to reach the family, friends, colleagues, current and past athletes, Dell City HS Alumni, as well as all supporters of the Dell City Cougars, Grandfalls Royalty Cowboys, Dawson Bulldogs, Grady Wildcats, Bryson Cowboys and New Home Leopards- whom have been impacted by the one and only Coach Joe Helms.
With many years of teaching and coaching experience, Coach Helms has impacted hundreds of students and athletes. He’s inspired generations of coaches, and provided support to endless family members and spectators. If you do not know Coach Helms; know he has been a father figure, mentor, and inspiration to so many lives in the class room and on the sports fields. He is frequently referred to as one of the greatest sixman football coaches the state of Texas has to offer.
Coach Helms is amazing man that has helped many but now it is our turn to show our appreciation and support to such an amazing man and help him and his family.
This past Spring, Coach Helms was diagnosed with cancer. He is now on his fourth round of chemotherapy and will do radiation after. He is going under the knife to try and remove the tumor in mid fall. We all know cancer is devastating and that treatment has a way of changing our life drastically and not for the better. Though this situation would be enough to discourage even the strongest person, Coach Helms remains selfless, and will continue business as usual including coaching 2-A-Days in a few months.
Coach Helms has had the support of his family, peers, athletes, and staff of the Grandfalls community through these early stages. But it is fair to understand that support, cards, and flowers can never settle the debt of haunting medical bills and expenses a person may endure in such a time of need.
This is why we are asking for your GENEROUS donation today. It is our goal to raise $10,000.00 which is only a portion of Coach Helms medical expenses. All donations will be presented to Coach Helms and his family. We are thankful that Coach Helms is now in treatment, and we appreciate your efforts to assist him in his road to recovery.
