Hello there! My name is Nataki Rennie. I am 18 years old and a Freshman at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. Originally, I'm from Brooklyn, New York and moved to the windy city in pursuit of a BFA in Musical Theatre.
When I was a little girl I dreamed of being a dancer. I would watch movie musicals and sit there for hours in awe of the performers who were giving so much life to the stories they were creating. I truly believe that the gift of storytelling is one of the purest, fulfilling, and magical experiences that any person can have. I knew from such an early age that I wanted to perform for the rest of my life.
I am extremely passionate about the arts and so believe in its ability to change lives. I want to dedicate my life to theatre, and one day have the wisdom to become a teacher and pass on the gift to other children who might not have been given the chance.
My family has done their best to support my dreams and have always encouraged me to reach for the stars. I knew that if I wanted to be a successful actor/dancer, that I needed to attend a college that would give me rigorous training and lifelong connections. However, to try to succeed in this profession is costly. I was beyond ecstatic when I learned that I was accepted into my dream school, The Chicago College of Performing Arts. I have learned so much in this program, and I have truly made such a second home here. Now almost at the end of my Freshman year, I have learned so much about performing, and have grown as an artist and an individual.
Now with a month left into the semester, I have to pay of $8,000 by the end of the month, or I will not be allowed to attend next year. This fact as been eating at me inside, and my parents have exhausted all other options. They are trying their absolute best, but the money just isn't there. I feel hurt and stuck in my situation, so I'm reaching out and asking for some help.
I have worked so hard to get to where I am, and I know that my journey doesn't end here. There's just so much to learn!
