Rescue Ops DTS (YWAM)

Months before graduating from college last December, I began praying and asking God what He wanted me to do after school. Though I was expecting to go to graduate school or start my career, the Lord blessed me with an opportunity to serve with Youth with a Mission (YWAM); and I am so thankful for it! YWAM is a missions organization that is dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. They have locations around the globe, some of which offer a discipleship training school (DTS). Each DTS seeks to help its students discover their passions and their part in God's purpose for the world. A DTS is a full-time program that lasts five to six months. It is made up of two parts: the lecture and training phase, and the outreach phase.

The first phase of my DTS started in September and will continue until late December, in Madison, Wisconsin. The second phase of my DTS is from late December to early March in Nepal and another country. (Feel free to contact me to find out the second country! :) ) Here, in phase one of the DTS I have been learning about what it looks like to be a rescuer. I have learned about who God is and I have been seeking to understand both His heart for justice and His heart for compassion. In phase two I will be going to Nepal and another country to share His love. My team and I will serve in orphanages, work with street kids, work with at risk women, share with churches and home fellowships, and more!

As I have been preparing for this trip I have realized that I cannot do it on my own; that I need to reach out and allow God to provide. First, and most importantly, I am asking for prayer. Prayers for people around the world who need rescuing, for safe and easy travels, for the DTS, for my team and our leaders, and for the communities we will be serving. Second, I am asking for financial support. The total cost for both phases of the DTS is $10,000. This is for room and board, travel, an outreach conference, lecture fees, and supplies for ministry.
