Johnny Needs Surgery

Donation protected
On Thursday, July 31st, my boyfriend Johnny fell from a height of 10 feet while at work. He landed on his feet and shattered both heels and ankles. This is a devastating injury – he will not be able to walk or work for up to six months.

He will need reconstructive surgery on each foot, and he will need physical therapy to learn to walk again. He will be wheelchair-bound until his feet heal.

Johnny is a small business owner – he owns his own painting company. He has been working almost non-stop on growing his business for two years, and he was just starting to feel like it was beginning to pay off. He is very proud of his company – especially the fact that for every gallon of paint they use, they plant a tree to offset the carbon. Johnny had a vision of eventually running a truly carbon-negative company. In addition to paying medical bills, Johnny needs help keeping his business afloat while he is unable to work. He has little overhead, but he needs to keep the insurance paid, pay off some expensive equipment, and other things to make sure that when he is ready to work again the company he worked so hard to build is intact.

Johnny is such an incredibly generous and thoughtful person. I can’t count how many times he’s come home, having heard of some need in our community, saying we’re helping someone move, or put on an event, or donating money to someone, or he’s going to be home late because he has to give someone a ride, or build a set-piece for a friend’s performance – he always jumps right into action whenever anyone needs anything.

He genuinely cares about people, and it shows in his relationships. He is always available to lend an ear and emotional support to a friend.  If you were to point this out to him, if you were to tell him how amazingly generous with his time he is, what a solidly loving presence he is in so many people’s lives, he would shake his head and tell you that he’s nothing special. However, I know that he is special. If you are his friend I’m sure you also know how special he is.

He has been overwhelmed with gratitude for the support he has received from our community so far. It has really lifted his spirits to know how much people care for him. Thank you for everything. We appreciate you so much.
