My name is Clint Crain. I am 14 years old and will be a freshman at Hargrave High School in Huffman, TX this year. On July 2, 2014 I was in a boating accident on Houston County Lake in Crockett, TX. I fell out of the boat as I was trying to hand my dad the rope, who was about to wake surf. My right leg hit the prop and it was severely severed. I was able to swim to the surface and my mom held me while my dad and brother pulled me out of the water. We drove back to the lake house while my brother called 911. My family and several neighbors at the lake came out to help. Miraculously a semi-retired OBG from the Woodlands, TX, Dr. Durst, who was visiting his sister-in-law, drove by and saw the Sheriff's cars in front of our lake house. He immediately came to help me. He determined that my leg needed a tourniquet right away. I had already lost 30-40% of my blood and almost lost consciousness. The ETMC ambulance arrived and transported me to Crockett hospital. Dr. Walker was the surgeon on call and he told my mom that he couldn't save my leg and that he would need to amputate it above the knee. I spent 7 days at the ETMC in Crockett, TX and was released to go home and recover. I have an appointment at Shriner's on Monday. If you are able to help our family with my medical expenses, I would be very grateful. I thank God for all the people that have prayed for me and helped me after my tragic accident. God is Good!
