Clinic 554 is a unique and essential health care clinic providing family-practice medical care as well as specialized and non judgmental reproductive and sexual health services in Fredericton, NB. The Clinic is committed to sex-positive, gender-celebratory care, anti-racist and feminist practices, and provides full-scope reproductive care.
The location of Clinic 554--on the banks of the Wolastoq/Saint John River-- is crucial: we are the only community-based abortion clinic between Montreal and Saint John's. We are also the only site in New Brunswick that accepts self-referrals for hormone assessments for transgender patients, and we see folks from across the Maritimes for this. However, our location also means we are susceptible to flooding. The Clinic has been flooded again and we need your help to stay afloat!
The local, national, and international community has and continues to recognize the necessity and importance of the services and care provided by Clinic 554: the Clinic was created through a massive people powered fundraising campaign in 2014. Since then, the scope of services has expanded to include emergency IUDs, abortions, gender and queer-positive care, as well as care for people living with HIV, HCV, and addictions. Last year, our community of supporters rallied to help fund necessary repairs following the record breaking floods of Spring 2018. And it was just announced that the clinic was one of the 2019 recipients of the Peter Gillespie Social Justice Award for Canadian organizations carrying out transformative work to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights. Clearly, our community needs the Clinic, and the Clinic needs the community's help!
Please consider donating anything you can to fund the insurance deductible for the necessary repairs to the Clinic following this 2019 flood. Empowering, non-judgmental, patient-centered health care depends on your support.
