Climb for Cancer Awareness

On December 17, 2016 my niece, Addison Godbee, lost her battle with Cancer. As time has passed, I've always wanted to thank the organizations that helped her and my family along the way. I've also wanted to raise awareness about the disease that continues to affect my family both presently and in the past. My family has lost my niece, my papa on my mothers side, and my grandmother that I never got to meet on my dads side due to cancer. My aunt won her battle against breast cancer and is now helping my second cousin with her battle against breast cancer.
The disease is terrible and during the rough times it is organizations like Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, FL that provide cost-free vacations to children with life threatening illnesses and their families. The organization gave my family that trip back in 2016 and it was a trip that will never be forgotten. The organization is a nonprofit resort located just outside of Orlando, FL. After being asked by my cousin to join him on a trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, I immediately saw this as an opportunity as my chance to give back. I started thinking about the climb and how this would be a great opportunity to raise awareness and money for Give Kids the World Village. My goal is to raise $1,000 and personally present them with a check and a thank you for everything they do. The trip is scheduled for the middle of March and I plan to present the check when I return from the climb. I will be taking pictures along the way with my training for the climb and also plan to document the climb.
