Cliff was born on February 26, 2016 with a condition called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita. He has clubbed feet, twisted fingers, displaced hips, torticollis, and curvature of the spine. The nerves to his muscles are low functioning & he is not expected to walk. Cliff also has a brain disorder, which can cause: seizures, a mild to severe intellectual disability, delayed speech development & feeding difficulties. To date Cliff is functioning at about a 6-9mth old baby & has yet to talk. He suffers from chronic reflux which was so severe that he was declared “Failure to Thrive” in the fall of 2016 & uses a feeding tube. He also has difficulties with breathing & has ongoing strider & possible sleep apnea.
Rosemary has been teaching music for over 12 years at Northwood Public School. As a single parent living on one income, she struggles with the many additional costs associated with Cliff’s condition including his wheel-chair, feeding tube supplies and formula. Rosemary continuously travels to London Health Sciences Hospital for Cliff's appointments with his 7 different specialists, who have labelled Cliff's condition a "medical conundrum." Cliff will also be facing future surgery, which will require Rosemary to take time off work. Rosemary’s house is in need of renovations to make it accessible for Cliff. In addition to caring for all of Cliff’s needs, Rosemary has a healthy five-year-old daughter named Carly.
