I’m Ms. Avalos, a 1st grade dual language teacher and a coach for the first Let Me Run group this coming fall at my school, Clearview Elementary in Waukegan, IL. However, I need your help.
Let Me Run Is a nonprofit organization that aims to create a culture of support for boys. Their mission is to inspire boys through the power of running to be courageous enough to be themselves, to build healthy relationships, and to live an active lifestyle. The team will accomplish this through a running regimen, along with lessons designed to teach boys through interactive activities. Topics covered include anger, bullying, positive competition, and nutrition just to name a few. If you would like to know more about the program visit www.LetMeRun.org. The season culminates in a local 5K that gives each student to celebrate their individual growth.
I’m raising money to help make it possible for 14 boys, 4th and 5th graders at Clearview Elementary to become a part of the team. The cost for each student to participate is $110 plus additional costs to participate in their first 5K run in November. These fees would put an added economic strain on their families. These young men have so much potential that may go unnoticed simply because they can not afford to pay a registration fee.
The $110 fee includes includes trained coaches, coach support, fourteen Let Me Run curriculum lessons, a dri-fit shirt, program supplies, a Let Me Run branded giveaway, and a race medal.
Any donations would help and be greatly appreciated.
My goal is to raise $1,665 by August 21, 2017.
