Claudia's gymnastics training fund

When Claudia was only 4-years-old, she amazed us with her incredible strength and ability to literally climb the walls of our home. I was stunned when I heard her voice coming from up by the ceiling saying "look at me Dad!"I turned to find her hanging 8-feet in the air by her fingertips on the crown molding in an archway, giggling and proud of her accomplishment. She was fearless!

After watching the 2012 Olympics, Claudia asked if she could try gymnastics and during her first recreational class she surprised the instructors when she could easily climb to the top of a 20-foot rope. She quickly developed her skills and a few months later, several national level coaches told us she had physical and mental toughness to make it to the top of gymnastics.

As she moved up through the compulsory levels of competitive gymnastics, she grew stronger and more determined to reach the highest levels of her sport. When Claudia was eight, she told us she wanted to be an elite gymnast and to try to make the Olympic team. This wasn’t a small decision as it impacted our entire family, but she was willing to sacrifice a lot, giving up her home and regular school so she could train 35-hours a week to achieve this dream. I’ve never seen anyone more determined and focused on a goal.

My wife Robbyn, her twin sister Claire and I have fully supported her because of her intense dedication. As a family, we made the hard choice to give up our home in Virginia so we could move her to a better gym in Texas. Because of my job, we have had to live a split-family lifestyle with me living in Washington DC, while Robbyn cares for Claudia and her sister in Texas. It’s been tough on our family, but we have seen her get closer to her goal every day. She has won numerous top awards in each event, is ranked in the Top 100 gymnast in the USA, and was the Level-7 Texas State All-Around champion.

Now a 12 year old, Claudia is competing at Level 9 and is training with the current Olympic champion and her coaches, the best in the country. She is living her dream!

Unfortunately, we have run into some financial difficulties over the past few months and need your help keeping the dream alive. We need $3000 in the next month to help cover the cost of gym tuition, entry fees and travel costs for upcoming national competitions. Without help, Claudia will have to give up her dream and withdraw from training and competition.

It is rare for someone to know early on what they want to do with their life but Claudia has always known. With your help, she can stay on track and make it to the top. Please donate what you can and join us on "Team Claudia"!
