Classroom Guinea Pigs!
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Emily Crawford and I teach 2nd Grade in the Dual Language program at a local Elementary school. The students spend half their day learning in English and half their day learning in Spanish. Our classroom is very culturally diverse and I love that we all embrace each other's cultures so wholeheartedly.
I bought two female guinea pigs for the children to enjoy as a class pet and they absolutely adore them. Suddenly, one of the females started getting very large- she was pregnant! The PetSmart I bought them from was an exclusively female store in order to prevent this from happening, however obviously someone wasn't a female! haha!
Our original plan was to rehome the babies, but we all just love them too much to part with them. The problem is that the original cage I purchased is too small for 5 guinea pigs and I cannot afford to purchase a second, larger one.
Guinea pigs love to run and and play and are very active. Contrary to what people might believe the actually need a lot of room; The Humane Society recommends 7.5 square feet per guinea pig. That's a BIG cage!
I have found the perfect cage for our class family and am in need of the funds to buy it. I will also need additional things like Fleece Flippers and bedding, as well as food for the piggies. Guinea pigs need a wide variety of vegetable and fruit as well as hay and grain.
If you could donate to our little class family I would be SO grateful and I know my sweet kiddos would be too.
Thank you!!
