River City Stars, Inc. is the ONLY special needs cheerleading program in Central Virginia!!!
Our team is in its 7th year. Before this year, our program had always been a part of a larger cheerleading organization. After our gym closed in June of this year, we embarked on a journey as a standalone Special Needs Cheerleading Program!!!
Our program runs from August to May and includes one practice a week, five competitions, and some special appearances at various events throughout Richmond.
We build confidence, teach teamwork, and provide opportunities for lifelong friendships. Participants improve motor skills, build core strength, and improve balance and endurance all while having fun!!
The pride that emanates from the girls is evident each time they perform, but also each time they practice. They are serious about their skills and improving their routines. They all help one another and if anyone becomes upset or frustrated – a hug is in order.
Practices are full of hard work but are also fun; friendships are made and relationships are built. The girls come in as individuals and leave as one team ready to take on the world.
Cheerleading is an empowering activity, and the cheerleading world is one of the most supportive and encouraging environments for this type of program. In previous years, our team received a standing ovation every time they performed at a competition!
Our coaches are all volunteers and are chosen because of their desire to be a part of this program. They demonstrate a passion for helping others and cheerleading. The relationships built between athletes and coaches are ones that will positively impact and change lives forever.
Your donations will help to buy NEW uniforms, practice wear, pom-poms and routine music!!
We have applied for tax exempt status, and our application is pending.
Please help these young ladies make memories that will last a lifetime. No donation is too small or too big. We would like to raise enough money to ensure the success of this program for years to come!
