Help Me Walk Again!

On November 20, 2013 at 7:05 a.m., as I was on my way to work, I lost control of my vehicle and was in a nearly fatal accident. I was life flighted to University of Louisville Hospital immediately. My lungs had collapsed and breathing was very difficult and my left lung was punctured from several broken ribs. I was later told that I had a spinal cord injury and that I would "never walk again" per my spine surgeon.
Almost nine months later, I have made tremendous progress in gaining my independence back! However the rising costs of therapy, medical expenses, and essential medical equipment has been overwhelming and nearly impossible. After having to leave the Rehabilitation Hospital on Christmas Eve, I have not been able to afford any therapy sessions as an out patient while trying to keep up with all of my other outstanding bills. My insurance has not been very cooperative and is covering the bare minimum of my expenses. In fact, I just received my own wheelchair in July after fighting with my insurance company to get it approved and I was still stuck with nearly half the cost of the chair out of pocket.
This fundraiser is to help me raise funds for physical therapy needs and an electrical stimulation bicycle (FES bike) I can use at home for additional therapy. I have just received a hand made standing frame where I am able to stand up and put weight on my bones to prevent osteoporosis. The physical therapy and FES bike will help with prevent msucle atrophy and will also help me when I am able to begin walking again.
