Despite being overly cautious, the Perez-Negron Family has been hit hard with COVID-19. While Heather, Carson, and Owen have been fairly lucky with only mild symptoms, Cito (Angel) has not had the same fortune.
Cito was sent to the emergency room and diagnosed with 'COVID Pneumonia' on 12/23. He was sent home later that night to rest at home. Christmas Day was difficult for him. He spent most of the day sleeping and struggling to breathe. Christmas night he was sent back to the emergency room where he was later admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. He was using BiPAP and Vapotherm therapy to support his breathing. He was still having a very difficult time breathing and keeping his stats where they needed to be. The medical staff called Heather to discuss all of the options. Cito was in really bad shape and it seemed almost inevitable that he was going to need to be put on the ventilator to give his lungs some rest so they could recover. Cito kept insisting that he felt strong enough to keep going on the BiPAP and Vapotherm. His care team allowed him to try to keep going without the ventilator. He has had good days and bad days, but he continues to fight. As of today, he is only using the Vapotherm therapy but has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
Due to the situation, neither Heather or Cito are currently able to work. The next few weeks are very uncertain, adding some financial concerns and stress to their family. All financial support will be used towards medical bills/treatments, and daily expenses for their family.
