Cindy's story is one of immense faith, hope and courage. As many of you know, Cindy has been battling Lupus for 2/3 of her life. She has endured so many health challenges and setbacks from this complicating disease including open heart surgery and having to receive an initial kidney transplant from her brother just over 13 years ago. While this transplant was a success, Cindy is now facing Stage 5 kidney failure and after several attempts to receive dialysis, it was unsuccessful and she needs a new kidney.
If you know Cindy, you know that she is humble and kind and she puts everyone's needs ahead of her own. Cindy NEVER asks for help which is why Patty Ryan and I have decided to create this GoFundMe initiative. While Cindy has had some very positive momentum on getting her new kidney - she constantly worries about the financial burden this will be to her donor. When Patty and I talked to her about moving forward with this program - she supported it because of her concerns. Of course, our goal is to raise enough money that will not only help Cindy's donor but will also assist Cindy and her husband Dan with this insurmountable financial burden.
Cindy, Dan and their son, Jake, have spent their life on a constant roller coaster. Their lives are full of doctors appointments and hospital visits. A year ago, Cindy came very close to losing her life. Patty and I will never forget those weeks she spent in the hospital and the love and support she received from her family and friends. The prayers flowed and when we look at her today - we see a MIRACLE!
