Cindy Jackson Burial Fund

As I choke back tears, and swallow pride, we are asking for a little help. This past week after not being able to reach my mom, who lives in a little town in Kentucky, I called the sheriff to do a welfare check. An hour seemed like an eternity but the call came that I had been dreading. My mom's body was found wrapped in a blanket sitting in her chair. My heart is shattered. The past four years have been an absolutely painful struggle for her after the loss of my father. She never really recovered and one might say she ultimately died of a broken heart. 

The timing of this heartache couldn't have come at a more difficult financial period. My husband lost his job in February and we've just relocated to Florida for his new position. We've endured all the expenses of relocating and were prepared for extreme penny pinching for the next year. Now this tragedy has left us scrambling with unexpected financial responsibilities. We are in need of travel and burial expenses to return to Kentucky. She had mentioned several times that she didn't want a funeral service but there are still many expenses that we are now saddled with and not prepared for. The only arrangement that had previously been established is that she will be buried with my dad at the Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery in Elizabethtown. 

This is by far one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do. She was too proud to ever ask for help and now I'm having to swallow some serious pride to request help from family, friends and strangers. Please know that we appreciate everything and the outpouring of love and condolences has been overwhelming.
