Let’s help our beloved Chyler!

Our Chyler had just celebrated his 15th birthday on New Year’s Eve 2017. When Chy should have been worrying about what normal teenagers worry about, he started being concerned about a couple of little scabs that appeared on his scalp a few days later. Soon afterwards, he had joint pains in both his left elbow and knee, to the point of him needing crutches in order to get around. After a scheduled visit to the dermatologist, a biopsy from his scalp was obtained. Topical and oral medications were prescribed. By then, the joint pain in his knee had worsened severely and Chy ended up in the ER where his knee was drained of fluids. A few days later on January 16, 2018, he was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. A follow-up visit to his pediatrician led to a referral to a rheumatologist on Oahu. Shortly after, with full vengeance, his skin was showing the severity of the psoriasis which worsened daily. On Valentine's Day, Chy was brought to the ER once more by his mom and dad with severe worsening symptoms. It was then that they learned that Chy would need to be treated by specialists at the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children hospital. He and his mom were transported by air ambulance to Oahu the next morning. Chy has remained hospitalized on Oahu since February 15, 2018. Since then, he's dealt with Erythroderma, psoriatic arthritis, acute kidney injury, bacterial infection in his blood stream (septic shock) which he ended up in the pediatric intensive care unit on March 1, and evolving psoriasis. He has required evaluation and treatment from the fields of Dermatology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease, Wound Care, Dieticians, Physical Therapy, and more. He has certainly presented a medical challenge to his team of specialists who call him a "puzzle." They are working tirelessly to get Chy home. Chy is strong and resilient and will continue to fight. During this whole ordeal, Chy’s mom Venus has not been able to work. She has exhausted her vacation hours and has been next to Chy’s bedside since day one. His father Romeo travels to Oahu to be with them when funds permit, but has remained on Maui to work in able to support them and their two younger sons. Also, during this time, Chy’s medical expenses have started to accumulate and the bills keep coming. The Bolosan family is trying to keep up, but with only one single income right now, it is more than just a struggle. That is why as family members, we kindly ask for your support in aiding the Bolosan family with any amount that may help them take care of Chy’s current and incoming medical expenses including ongoing care, and possibly allow Romeo to travel more often to Oahu so that Chy can have the physical support of not just one but both of his loving parents. We thank you all in advance for all your prayers and support. Let’s do this for Chy!
