Chuck’s Kidney transplant Recovery

$2,375 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 29 people in 10 days
As many of you know Chuck was very blessed to receive a kidney transplant on July 4th after 17 years  dependent on a dialysis machine 3 times a week to survive. Wednesday was true day of independence for him. With this new gift of life comes many more challenges.  Chuck still has a long road ahead of him.  Anti rejection medications and weekly doctors visits will be the norm for life.  I have created this go fund me to help our family with the costs of medical bills, travel from Dexter NY to St. Baranbas Hospital in NJ and the expensive anti rejection medications he will be on forever.  We need this time to focus on his recovery and getting him back to a normal life rather than stressing about costly medications, travel, lost wages and any other unexpected expenses. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you to all for your love and support.

Chuck had his first outpatient appointment. It was a rough morning but all in all he is doing great. We are still waiting to hear about his labs but the last creatinine level was 1.13 before he left the hospital. Before transplant it was over 7 and a normal level for a healthy person is 0.6-1.2. The doctor today told us that he will have to be monitored very closely due to his high antibody levels meaning that his body will always be looking to attack his new kidney. But with modern medicine he hopefully will be able to grow older with me. A side note he stopped to pose with his surgeon.

(A message from Chuck) Thank you for your continued help. This has been a trip...i was in tears this morning realizing i actually have a working kidney. You cannot imagine how many times I've seen other's doing cool things and thought with jealously that they're organs must work great...and actually glad for them. I dont know when I might ride again. That may be well down the road, if at all. It's something i will be taking a good long look at, for sure. I cannot put this precious organ in danger. Anyway, the good news is the foley catheter is coming out today...Yay!
