Christopher Medak's Recovery Fund

As most of you know, our beloved son, father, brother and friend Christopher Medak was involved in an accident on August 5th while bodysurfing. He sustained serious injuries to both his neck and his back as well as complications resulting from water in his lungs. He has undergone several surgeries during his time as a patient of the ICU at UCLA Santa Monica to both correct and ease the impact of his injuries and now we are so happy to report that he has been transferred out of the ICU to the first of his rehabilitation facilities.

Again, at this time we ask for your understanding that we cannot give you any further prognosis for him but that is mainly due to the fact that the nature of his injuries has no standard set of outcomes and we ourselves have no knowledge of where his road will lead. We remain hopeful, that with time, love and the very best medical and rehabilitative care possible, he will make an inspired recovery.

We want to thank you all for the outpouring of offers of help, support and love. It has meant the world to us and Christopher and has buoyed us through this trying time and while we had hoped to avoid this platform altogether we now find ourselves needing some assistance in meeting the additional costs required to supplement and facilitate Chris's care and recovery therapies. To ensure he has the best possible recovery & outcome he will have to undergo rigorous respiratory rehabilitation, occupational therapy and physical therapy as well as the newfound need of extended care in order to make sure he is safe and comfortable while this lengthy process is underway. Unfortunately, not all of this is covered by his insurance and we desperately want to give him the best chance possible of overcoming this injury .We humbly reach out now ,to ask that if you have the means, any donation no matter the size, would be immensely appreciated. And if you are without the means we  gratefully ask for your continued wishes, love and support as they mean so much to him. Anything and everything helps and all funds raised will be used completely towards his care and  medical expenses.

Also, regarding visitation, Chris has asked for this time and space to focus all of his intention and energy on his recovery but he wants you all to know how much he appreciates you and rest assured that when he is ready we will let you know.
