Looking for Help: My Uncle's Burial

Spende geschützt
This week, my mother lost her brother out of nowhere. A veteran of the Navy, Christopher Parsley, was one of the most joyful people I knew. His death was unexpected. He had surgery to repair his Bile Duct just two weeks ago. He was released, sent home, and appeared normal. My mother and him even spoke on the phone right after and she said he sounded like the same old jolly Chris.

A few days later my uncle experience extreme abdominal pain and developed a serious fever...we received a call not too much longer saying he wasn't going to make it and we needed to get our family business in order...

Christopher Parsley, my dear uncle, died in his mid-60s of Sepsis. Sepsis occurs when a bacterial infection reaches the blood, and the immune system has a strong reaction that can cause organ failure. His body released too many toxins from his Bile Duct and poisoned itself. It happened so fast that I was not able to take off from work and my last words to him were over the phone on speaker.

Much of these issues happened because, despite what many people in my life think, our family is poor. In our immediate family, my mother and I make the most money and neither of us had the funds to intervene here. The options he had to correct this issue on his own were limited because of his insurance coverage and the VA hospital wouldn't have been able to take him in so quickly. A story we some of us know too well: Had he been of another status - he would have made it.

Unfortunately, due to the unforeseen timing of his death; neither my mom, myself, his daughter, or ex-wife can afford his cremation and burial on such a short notice. With his funeral on 4/6/18, we need to have all funds to the funeral home by 4/3.

That said, our entire family's legacy is built on working hard to provide for ourselves. I was taught to never put my hand out. To break through the chains of poverty on my own merit and in silence. Never letting anyone know of our sometimes dire circumstances. I pounded the books so I could go to the best schools for free. I watched my mom be a single mother in college, graduate school, and post-grad. This time; however, I'm not really sure what else to do other than ask for help. If you can find it in your heart to help us with this cause, I will be forever grateful.

Christopher Parsley leaves behind a strong daughter Tomika Parsley and two very young grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.
