Proud parents Denise and Owen Cox were planning on taking their son, Christoffer, to college next month to start his freshmen year at The University of Oklahoma. Christoffer had accepted a position on the Men’s Gymnastics team, the sport he has worked so hard at since he was a young boy.
Saturday, July 13th Christoffer went to a friends house to spend the night and had an accident that resulted in a C5 Spinal Fracture. Sunday afternoon he went in for his first surgery, then a second surgery on Monday. As of today, he cannot move his arms or legs, but has had days where feeling is coming back. Christoffer and the Cox family have a long road ahead of them, but they are choosing to stay positive and optimistic truly believing and praying that he will gain full mobility.
Denise and Owen recently began the journey of business owners at Katy Athletics/Stars Vipers, and were excited as they saw tremendous growth in only one year after opening. They had scheduled an appointment for the following Friday to get a health plan process started for their family. The accident happened before, so none of Christoffer’s medical expenses will be covered by insurance.
The doctors do not know how his body will heal, so they are not sure on the extent of the recovery. Regardless, once he is able to leave the hospital, the family will experience a huge change in their everyday life. Day to day activities will consist of doctors appointments and physical therapy for years to come, and they will need to make accommodations to their home for medical equipment.
We are asking for prayers above all, but we are also wanting to help The Cox Family with all of the expenses that no family can truly plan for, so they can focus on taking care of their son. Any amount is appreciated and we thank you for continuing to pray for them daily. Christoffer is a fighter and will get through this!!
