Our Story:
This year, the Scotia Suzuki School of Music community helped provide materials to build a water tank and school benches for the Kamogomon Primary school. (See Facebook: “ A Musical Gift for Kids in Kenya”)
The family that hosted us in Nairobi has a small new chicken farm. The owner of the farm introduced us to his friend, Solomon, who built a school in the slums of Nairobi called “The Lovely Ones” Primary School.
After we visited the school, we found out that many children in the area were not attending. The reason for this is that the families don’t have enough money to pay for the school fee and food for their children. Children can’t learn when they’re hungry so we can help!
Your chicken will supply eggs to the children weekly for approximately five years! Your $10 chicken will deliver to the school over $30 in eggs in its lifespan!
You will receive a certificate of chicken ownership and a yearly newsletter with updates on the progress of your chickens and the breakfast program. If you would like to buy a chicken bundle for someone else, let us know and we will send you a certificate of chicken ownership in their name in an e-card for you to print.
Chicken owners in Halifax can have the opportunity to be pen-pals with the kids at this school in Nairobi. The Scotia Suzuki School of Music will be making a long term relationship with “The Lovely Ones” Primary School.
