With the starter kits, we pretty much had the shelter stocked up on hygiene items to last for quite some time. When the holiday season rolled around the next year, I asked what we could do to help. That’s when we started the Christmas Cheer Drive. They provide the wish lists of their residence and we all pull together to help make this the best holiday season ever to what has probably been the worst year of their life.
We call ourselves the Freedom Starters, after that first year of the Freedom Kits. I have a trusted sidekick, Leesa Kelly, who helps me with key decision and most importantly I have all of you guys. Good people of the Eastern Shore, (all of you from heres, been heres and come heres), who make the magic happen.
WAYS TO DONATE:
Shop from the gift lists – I try to keep it as updated as possible. Please drop unwrapped items off at the drop zones (soon to be announced)
Donate here on GoFundMe – Money donated here will go towards getting gifts for the residents. If we fulfill all wishes, then we will use any additional funds for supplies to keep the shelter running.
Donate in person – Donate at any of our drop zones (soon to be announced). Cash and Walmart gift card donations will go towards getting gifts for the residents. If we fulfill all wishes, then we will use any additional funds for supplies to keep the shelter running. Check donations made out to ESCADV will be given directly to the shelter.
Thank you guys! Leesa and I agree, this project makes Christmas really feel like Christmas to us. The holiday season is about unselfish giving and we do it every year with this Christmas drive and other like charities.
