Christmas Bushfire Appeal
Donation protected
As Christmas approaches, many of us are busy buying last minute gifts, overwhelmed by wrapping, and stocking up on supplies for Christmas lunch. But for so many, this Christmas will be a continued period of picking up the pieces caused by the devastation of the extensive bushfires which have consumed a large portion of NSW.
Christmas is, for so many, a time of bonding, togetherness, and unity. Yet currently so many are still reeling over the damage caused. For that reason, we are appealing for donations of the following, to help those in trying circumstances enjoy their Christmas:
- Monetary Donations - any and all donations will be used to buy the below listed, which
will then be personally delivered to Taree, Port Macquarie, Bonny Hills, Lake Cathie, Laurieton, and other surrounding areas which have been affected by the Fires
- Children’s Toys, gifts for Teenagers, and gifts for adults
- Basic essentials including toiletries, linens, towels and other household items
- Food - May be either canned or fresh, particularly looking for supplies that can be enjoyed on Christmas Day ie. fruit cakes, meats, and other traditional Christmas foods.
The organisers thank everyone in advance for their generous contributions and appreciate selflessness in a very trying time.
Mission statement
My name is Ashley Harrison, a local student in Newcastle. My personal connection to this cause is having the majority of my family, both grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousins in this region, creating a personal and undeniable connection to the suffering occurring in the aforementioned areas. As a student who will be very fortunate this Christmas, unaffected mostly by the fires and with a lot to be grateful for, I am compelled to try and help those devastated by the fires, through rallying the generosity of Novacastrians. Co organised by the insanely selfless Alex Pitt and Miles Downing-Donnelly.
