!!Get excited!!! We are about to embark on another awesome season at the Christie Pits Skateboard Park!
And what better way to start off the season than to build the MINI RAMP!
Along with building the mini ramp, we have a few events already in the works for this summer. And can't wait to celebrate with you all :)
Because we are a DIY community, we depend solely on volunteers and donations. The city does not fund us; the ramps, materials, maintenance, repairs, everything you see achieved at the park is because of volunteer people power. However, we also need funds to help make things happen. For example, last year's fundraising helped build the 8 ft spine.
And with your gracious donation this year, we can:
- Putting up the mini ramp (approx $1000 cost: labour/knowledge, wood ($$$$), truck/gas, tools, etc) 3 DAYS long days of volunteering
- Repair existing ramps (paint/supplies, tools, surfacing ($$$$))
- Build new ramps (surfacing, wood, tools, steel, etc)
- Events (rentals, food/water, music, shirts, graphic design, supplies, etc)
While it may look easy, there is a lot of hard work behind the scenes and people volunteering their energy and time to make the park possible YEAR ROUND! Thank you to everyone who has helped over the years in every aspect of the park... sweeping, cleaning, repairs, painting, lifting heavy things, sponorsing us, feeding our volunteers, hyping the vibe, teaching newcomers, and creating viral social content!
Thank you to our super diverse and supportive community, you all make our space very special and wouldn't be here without you. Let's make our 6th year the best one yet!
