Hi, my name is Alan Harper, and I am the curator of the Christie Fire Museum. I have collected fire service artefacts and memorabilia for over 40 years and have almost 7,000 items.
My objective is to establish a permanent location for the museum with the provision of a cafe, museum shop and public community space that can be used for meetings and events.
I am seeking grants and holding fundraising events to raise monies to establish the museum, which will facilitate individuals, groups and educational establishments. It will provide a safe and friendly environment to learn about the history of the fire service and provide resources for research and fire safety awareness.
As the museum will be a not for profit project, an annual donation will also be made to the Fire Fighters Charity, which supports the mental, physical and social needs of all serving and retired members of the UK's fire family.
Your donations are greatly appreciated and will go a long way in establishing Northern Ireland's first and only Fire Service Museum.
