A Miracle for Christian

Aloha Everyone!

Many thanks for the fundraising idea, which I took the liberty to create on behalf of my brother.  Our fundraising goal with the "8's" represents "Infinity" in Chinese culture.  We wish for infinate happiness, health and well being for all!

My youngest brother Christian Young is a shining example of pure love and light. The healtiest man on earth who doesn't drink, smoke, let alone take asprin, was a triathlete, avid hiker, adventurer, photographer, a hard worker, until a bout of Pnemonia late 2013 lead to the shocking discovery of Stage 4 Thymoma slow-growing, rare cancer , coupled with Myasthenia Gravis, a neurological disease, to which medicial literature says there is no cure (1.5 person per 1M pp). Like many with cancer or illness, we constantly ask ourselves, how can life be so unfair?

Hawaii has no "specialists" but decided anyway to go along with "protocol" of chemo, surgery, and radiation. To no avail, he had partial lung amputation and partial thymus removal.

Compounded by the gutwrenching statement, "Radiation is now not an option, let's just wait and see..." led him on a quest for answers and a cure, seeking consults from dedicated Thymoma specialists at Stanford Medical in CA, and MD Anderson Center in TX. In the interim, remaining tumors doubled in size larger than golf balls and is now near and behind his heart. MD Anderson concluded another surgery is far too risky, suggested more chemo, now he's back to square one.

Our silent and brave warrior mustered up the courage to go at it again, hoping and praying for a miracle this time around. He's taking natural supplements and on a new diet to attain the best of both eastern and western medicine. A CT scan and echocardiogram will be performed after his next upcoming chemo round, then a decision will be made to endure more chemo, or live in TX for 6-7 weeks for specialized Proton Radiation which can only be administered by a skilled radiation oncologist.

It's been quite the busy year for Christian at age 45, having to fight his hardest challenge ever, a different type of marathon so to speak. As his journey continues, so does ours. We're constantly learning from him that one can make another smile despite their own pain, complaining wastes precious energy, the will to live makes one overcome harsh and vile hurdles, continue setting and striving for goals, giving up is not an option.

We realized the magnitude of love for my brother when many came together to be by his side. Not to mention the endless number of his friends honoring him as they selflessly ran The 2014 Honolulu Marathon against the blustering wind and freezing rain for 26 miles, with the mantra "Christian Strong". Thank you everyone for loving him!!!

We humbly ask for any support you can provide be it a prayer or call to uplift his spirits,  a monetary donation (link below) to help him continue his journey and realize his goal to run another marathon.

Any unused portion will go to  "Truth About Cancer" project by Ty Bollinger who enlightend us with his invaluable research and discoveries. Here's a link for you to share with loved ones in hopes it too will open your mind to all things possible and infinate.   http://thetruthaboutcancer.com

Remember to hug your loved ones!

Forever Grateful,

The Young 'Ohana
