Chrissie Brummer Memorial Plaque

Recently, I lost my friend Chrissie Brummer. I met Chrissie at Regis University in 1997. We were both staying in the same dorm our freshman year. Chrissie was one of the kindest people I ever knew. She welcomed all with open arms. You couldn't be around Chrissie without her putting a smile on your face. From Summer volleyball games, to themed parties, and to her work with the less fortunate, Chrissie always made sure you felt special. The Regis motto is "men and women in service of others, " and that is how she lived her life.  Her work included time with Americorp and the Peace Corp. After her time with the Peace Corp she found an equally fulfilling job in Washington DC. Unfortunately, her time there was cut short due to the onset of paranoid schizophrenia. Although she fought hard, the disease was too much to overcome. I don't want Chrissie to be defined by this disease, but remembered as a kind and wonderful person whose mission in life was to help others. She loved Regis University, and she lived in service of others. I would like to honor her memory with a memorial tree on the Regis University campus. The tree is located in front of Carroll Hall where she spent her time as a work-study. This area is named "Our Lady of Loretto Grotto." It is also adjacent to O'Connell Hall, the dorm she stayed in our freshman year. If I could, I would pay for it myself, but I don't have the funds. I am calling on all of Chrissie's friends to help me honor her at Regis. She deserves this. My goal is to raise $1,200 to cover the cost of the tree. Anything more than that will go to Chrissie's family or to any organization they would like me to donate to.
