Our Amazing Friend Chris Evans, Probation & Parole

The Montana Department of Corrections lost a valued member of its staff this weekend.  Chris’ death comes as a tremendous blow to all who knew him.  He was a compassionate leader, devoted father, husband and friend.   We extend our deepest sympathies to Chris’ wife, Sarah, his children, and their family. We cannot even begin to fathom their loss.

Chris began his career in corrections at the Gallatin County Detention Center soon after he graduated from MSU Bozeman in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management and minor in justice studies. In 2000, he was hired by the DOC as a probation officer in Bozeman, and in 2007, was honored as the Montana Correctional Association’s P&P Officer of the Year.

In 2008, Evans became a POII in the Billings P&P office and served on the U.S. Marshals Service Montana Violent Offender Task Force for five years. In 2016, he was promoted to his position as deputy chief.
