In August 2021, the worst possible outcome became the harshest reality for my life long companion. Chowder, my sweet kitten was diagnosed with FIP, a fatal disease if left untreated. Due to the rapid onset of this disease, his abdomen is filled with so much fluid he can barely walk and we are hoping that it doesn’t start to affect his breathing and organs. He is so sick and doesn’t understand it, but holding on because I’m by his side through every step. I was given 2 options: Euthanasia or a treatment that would cost me thousands, and I am going with the second one.
Every day on my schedule is almost entirely dedicated to Chowder. It’s been stressful and heartbreaking. Being unsure if his story will be heard so that I can support his treatment is what I’m trying to hold onto, as I’m a 21 y/o student financially struggling. I’m desperately trying to hold onto my best friend.

- $600 towards 3 full panel blood tests at 30,60 and 90 days to assess his FIP status and overall improvement.
- In addition, he needs saline fluid injections to ensure he is fully hydrated, as well as food expenses/appetite stimulants. The discomfort from his belly is makes him want something new or not at all almost every day.
