Cholangiocarcinoma - Rick’s Journey

Donation protected
In May of 2017, Rick was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, a very rare cancer. After looking at a few second options at the end of May and not qualifying for a clinical trial, we he started a chemo regimen that was off trial. This worked for a while, but at the beginning of October the tumors started to grow again. With much research and phone calls I was able to find a clinical trial that was open in November at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. We started our travel in hopes that he would qualify for this immunotherapy trial. Rick was accepted into the clinic trial at Johns Hopkins in December. This now requires us to travel every other Monday for treatment. The cost is about 1500.00 per trip. This trial runs for 3 years and is a 2nd phase trial. We are very excited about this opportunity and the results. Rick is still here 9 months after being diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma. This cancer is not kind. If you look it up you will find more information. Our goal here is to be patient #4 ( that is Ricks number) that finishes this trial and beats this!
I was very hesitant to let people know and do a fund raising page but this cancer is so rare and the options of treatment are so rare this was our only hope after the chemo stopped working.
