My name is Myreon Sutton-Johnson, and I coach an 8th Grade basketball team at a Charter School in chicago. This year, the team experienced a record breaking season making it to their league's playoffs for the first time in the team's history. I am incredibly proud of the player's growth throughout the year, and I am excited that members of the team have been chosen to attend the 4 Quarters Basketball Camp in North Carolina, this summer.
I started this page to ask that you join me in supporting my players as they embark on this great opportunity. Please take the the time today to donate to support this goal. No donation is too small.
Their Story
The charter school is located on Chicago's West Side. My students are all eighth grade boys preparing for high school. Our team serves as a healthy, positive outlet for the players and demands excellence both on and off the court. Players are taught discipline, teamwork, diligence, and patience. The team also offers a sense of belonging necessary for young boys that are often struggling to navigate the many challenges black youth face.
4 Quarters Basketball Camp
The 4 Quarter's Basketball Camp was founded to build leadership and perseverance in young boys. The camp focuses on basketball training, life skills, and wellness, and instills in participants the importance of education and academic excellence as student-athletes.The 4 Quarters Basketball Camp will introduce the players to a group of teens from across the country who are also striving to be successful student-athletes under the guidance and support of adults that will serve as mentors for years to come. The camp is run by a group of young Black men, and will offer the players perspectives from people that look like them that have excelled in various professional fields.
The weeklong trip will also allow the players (many of which have never left Chicago) to experience a new state, take a tour of a college campus, and get a sense of life and opportunity outside of their neighborhoods. Please check out the video below to learn more about the 4 Quarters Camp's mission.
How You Can Help
While the students come from supportive families, my goal is to send the players to the basketball camp expense free. Below I have detailed the full cost for each player to attend:

Flight: $1700
I sincerely appreciate your generosity and support.
